what sets this course apart

I've had so much positive feedback from both students and parents about this unique approach to learning mathematics. Here's what's involved:

an easy to follow, carefully crafted learning journey

The course is split into 8 carefully sequenced modules, where each lesson builds on the last. Unlike typical maths courses that jump around, this one interleaves topics to reinforce learning, with lots of revision and retrieval built in.

self-paced learning

Students can choose the pace of their learning, completing the course over weeks, months or even longer depending on their timetable or other commitments. The video lessons are supported by exercises with full video commentary on every question and follow up activities like quizzes and consolidations.

support for parents and students

Expert support is crucial, especially for something this important. If you or your child ever have a question - whether about the course, choosing an exam board, or preparing effectively - I’m always just a message away and ready to help.

what do former students think?

A few years ago I reached out to some old students and asked them for some feedback on what they found valuable about working with me. Here's what they said.

on-demand help and feedback

When someone puts their trust in my approach I take that seriously. If a student or their parent/guardian has questions or would like feedback on their work I will respond to you quickly and make sure that you get the support you need.

Who am I?

I've been teaching and tutoring maths for over 20 years. My students value how enthusiastic and creative I am in my teaching, and I have invested countless hours in research and reflection to provide the best I can for the people I work with.

I firmly believe that anyone can make significant improvements to their maths with the right approach, and my students know that I'm 100% committed to helping them to succeed.

Did you know...

(I)GCSE maths is a collection of "skills", not "topics"

I've been tutoring and teaching for over 20 years, and from day one my focus has been on making maths as accessible as possible for my students. This is even more important for independent learners, who may easily feel overwhelmed or lacking a clear sense of direction when presented with 30+ chapters of maths to get through for their course.

The good news is that maths is best approached as a few key skills to master, rather than a long tick list of topics to wade through. This makes the learning journey feel purposeful, with a clear sense of growth and connection as you progress. This is how this course is designed, which is important because...

frustration leads to demotivation

Feeling overwhelmed and underequipped is frustrating, as we all know. This leads to lack of motivation, then lack of work and that leads to even more overwhelm - a vicious cycle.

Even if a student is working diligently, they might still feel unsure if what they are doing is helping. Mastering, reinforcing and applying skills creates a much deeper sense of progress!

the "catch"

Independent learning is a skill in its own right. It takes patience, reflection, and a mindset that values depth over ticking boxes...which feels different from school!

Imagine if learning to drive worked like school. Your test is booked for next Thursday, whether you're ready or not. You get 30 percent right? Good enough. Here's your pass.

Would you trust that driver? Of course not. Because real learning, like safe driving, depends on mastery. This shift in mindset is essential for success in any course like this one, and takes time and patience to nurture.

so what's involved?

the key word is "mastery"

Learners need to understand that the goal is to master the material rather than to simply tick the next box, and will often need help from their support system (usually parents) to understand and adapt their mindset. It's not unusual for a module to be repeated more than once to really take ownership of those skills. The ultimate goal is to empower your child as a student of mathematics, capable of flexible thinking and independent learning.

The content

Clear, engaging video lessons deliver the core content while also building independent study skills, exam technique, and smart learning habits. Every lesson comes with targeted exercises and full video walkthroughs to reinforce understanding.

To deepen insight, each module includes multiple-choice “concept check” quizzes designed to help learners reflect on the meaning behind the maths, not just the method, and the whole course is approached with an emphasis on building study skills, problem solving strategies and exam technique.

a structured approach

Every module teaches new key skills while building on old ones, showing more and more ways in which they can be applied. At the end of each module there's a "Milestone Test" so that students can test their understanding and a consolidation to further lock in their skills.

exam questions

At the end of the 8 modules, students tackle real exam-style questions that show how their newly mastered skills translate into top marks in (I)GCSE maths.

For those ready to go further, optional “bolt-on” material is available to deepen understanding and stretch their knowledge even further.

"My son and daughter have been using Dave’s I/GCSE Maths revision course and wow!!

My daughter struggles with maths and the progress she has made is phenomenal. Having had school lessons, private tutors, online learning providers- we finally found Dave.

We were beginning to think Maths GCSE maths was unattainable for her- now with Dave she has sat the Higher Paper and understands and enjoys it! Dave is also one of the most kindest people to walk this Earth."

"Dave tutored me through my A-levels. I have nothing but praise for him and his work. The passion he brings to teaching shifted my entire approach to studying 180°. He taught me HOW to study, what to look for whilst doing questions, and how to approach the really hard ones. I started making huge strides in both my understanding of the subject and also my motivation to put in the work because of his lessons. His advice on exam technique and revising is something which I have now carried through to studying engineering at university. I’ve never had a better teacher.

The course, plus on-demand support from me, is just £240. I wanted to make sure with this pricing that a high quality resource was affordable to anyone that needs it.

If you decide that the course isn't right for you within the first two weeks, I'll refund you - no questions asked.

how long does my access last?

how do you handle accountability?

Parents/guardians have access to an "accountability pack" to check answers to milestone tests, or I am happy to check these tests for you.

is this suitable for my exam board/level?

The content of the programme is designed to address the common core of GCSE and IGCSE maths that is worth the most marks, regardless of exam board or level. Higher level topics are clearly marked so intermediate students know what they can skip.
